• Summer 2025​​

  • Ella, Scarlett, Makayla, Zoe and GHT all attended ICASS2026 in Halifax. Ella, Scarlett, Makayla and Zoe presented posters with Ella taking home an award for top poster presentation (as one of the few undergraduate presenters!!). GHT gave an invited talk the benefits of cuprous oxide nanomaterials as a cost effective photocatalyst alternative. 

  • GHT and Erwan Bertin were awarded a Innovation Nova Scotia Tier I Productivity and Innovation Voucher for a newly established collaboration with GreenEarth Technologies.  Looking forward to a productive partnership!

  • Our work with the Bertin lab group examining the use use of photothermally active AgNP/metal oxide hybrids for PFAs decontamination was accepted for as an invited contribution ChemPlusChem. Congrats to all!

  • Ongoing successes with Victor's project! Working investigating the "Allergold" methodology to peanut proteins was accepted for publication in Allergy.  Congrats to collaborators from the Foo lab, as well as those from the Mueller research group at NIH. Thank you for involving us in such an intriguing nanomaterial application! i

• May​​​

  • Congratulations to Lauren, Anna and Sydney who graduated with their honours degrees and to Jenna who graduated with her Advanced Major. Many of you have been with the GHT group for multiple summers - including Lauren who was the longest tenured member of our group. Best of luck to you all in your future endevors!

  • 2026 Summer Research begins - welcome to new members - Scarlett, Makayla, Zoe, Sarah and Mya and welcome back to Ella, Adalia and Jesse. Excited for a summer of exciting chemistry and unexpected results!

  • Ella, Scarlett and GHT attended ChemCon 2026 at UNB Fredericton. Ella presented an oral presentation on her ongoing work into photocatalytic pollution control and received amazing feedback on her findings!

  • GHT and StFX Industry Liaison Officer, Hana Nelson, attended the NetZero ECT Innovation Floor at Pier 21 in Halifax to showcase the excited work taking place in the GHT and EB groups on light-induced clean fuel generation.

  • GHT attended CSC2027 in Toronto, ON and gave an invited talk on the groups recent successes in sustainable photocatalysis.

  • Mya, Sarah, Scarlett, Makayla and Zoe will be joining our gorup this summer!  Welcome to everyone!!​

  • Ella and Scarlett were both awarded Cunningham Memorial Fellowships for Summer 2026!  Awesome work, Ladies!

  • Adalia was awarded a NSERC USRA for her Summer 2026 research (co-supervised with A. Foo)

  • Clean Foundation's Summer Internship Program continues to generously support our research and will support many of our summer reserachers studying environmental remediation and clean fuel design in Summer 2026!  Thank you to the Clean Foundation for recognizing the importance of undergraduate research!​​

  • GHT and Erwan Bertin were awarded NetZero Stage II (Follow On) Funding and 2 Mitacs Accelerate Internships in support of their Emerging Concepts and Technology project studying clean energy and sustainable alternative fuels!
